Can I describe this situation to you? I am sitting here, on my bed, in front of a fan connected to a battery, trying to get a brief respite from the heat and humidity and think about what to post on the blog to make the experience of building the new CCC come alive to you. I’ve begun this post about 8 times already, and still failed to find the just-right angle on the reality we are experiencing here. So I figured, why don’t I just show it to you?

This is the first foundation of the new CCC.

This is Mr. Lad….

And this is Mr. Sok Seth- two of the reforestation workers who came to help us. They’ve done quite a bit of concrete by now, so they helped us organize the workforce.

These are Sammady (back) and Phiry (bottom left corner), two of my students who joined the group who went to the stream to collect sand and gravel for the cement.

This is Sophal. She is the village seamstress. She came with her son to help us lay the foundations.

These women helped us spread out the gravel on the soon-to-be-cement floor…

So did these two girls.

I don’t know this man…

Or this woman, but they both worked tirelessly throughout the day.

This is Nang (that’s Khmer for “lucky”). He is one of IBC’s

biggest supporters, and willing to help out any way he can. And he does.

This is how our new CCC looks today. Give us two weeks, and together with a few working hand from the community, we’ll put up a building here.
